So, I have worked for this company for about a year, and I quit because in that year I didn't get a raise (others did but not everyone, really seems they used a random generator to give them out) was told that HR gives out raises and I didn't qualify. People who worked for 3 months got one but A lot of my work friends who where all top of the charts by numbers didn't. So I was upset and found a job that pays almost double what I was making and got the job. They sent me a teams invite to the exit interview and I declined twice. Finally an HR member came down to me and said “We know you are upset but don't know why, and that an exit interview would allow them to make the workplace better for the next person.” Was also told I had…
Forced into Management
I(F24) have never wanted this position. So, I started at my company making bottom dollar less than a year ago. In that time, they laid off 20+ people including our manager. As a result, because I am the lowest paid person, my manger’s boss started putting all of my (now ex) manager’s position on me. Mind you, I also go to college throughout the week. No pay. No title upgrade. At first, I didn’t mind helping make up some smaller tasks. Then, she dropped everything on me. Managing the department with people who seniors my position by decades. (My immediate team doesn’t mind. However, a lot of other departments are non-compliant with anything I say, even if it’s coming directly from her). I’m now working 60 hours a week while going to college full time. When I asked for a raise/title upgrade, I was told I was lucky they were…
Advice for a lying month?
Hi guys, I started a new job there at the end of February and due to some unfortunate timing I'm a bit stuck financially. Bills are paid for this month but I have literally nothing in my bank and my cards are frozen. Long story short I'm based in Northern Ireland and was on JSA, however I got a job roughly a week after I signed on so the claim was cancelled quite quickly. I got about £500 for the week I worked in February and about £150 from JSA but after rent and general cost of living I'm stuck until payday. Does anyone have any advice on getting some money to tie me over that doesn't involve dodgy payday loans or internet scams? Any advice at all would be appreciated!
Work from home and earn money
Working from home it is possible. Complete surveys and earn money. More details click here
So as the title explains I have a base salary of say 95k a year, and I found out my co-workers are making upwards of 150k a year. Some context below for the post here as I’m looking for advice on what I could potentially do here, if anything. I’m also typing this out on Mobile, so please forgive any terrible formatting. I started this new job as of March 2nd working for a pretty massive corporation. They hire a lot of external contractors through hiring agencies, which is how I got brought into the mix. I applied for said job through “X” company and technically get paid by them, but work directly with their client who is the massive corporation. Part of my onboarding is to meet with other co-workers who are in the same position as myself, and of course we got to talking where I eventually asked…
Can I be fired for being sick??
First time posting. Apologies where applicable lol I have a history of migraines that occasionally cause me to miss work. My company is aware of this. I am medicated and take steps to treat them. Recently, I had a bad case of COVID which took me out of work for a week and a bit. (We have 4 day work weeks.) Obviously I don't get paid when I am sick. I've used up all my sick pay with my migraines. So when I had COVID I had no income. It sucked. Anyway, I got back to work the week after and was still feeling crummy. Then I got an upper respiratory infection which took me out of work again. (Still with no sick pay.) I heard from one of my coworkers that I'm considered being let go. Though I can't help that I'm sick. I don't know whether or not…
Hey guys, my supervisors caused quite a commotion among the student staff by telling us that graduating RAs have to stay a few days after their graduation ceremony to help close residence halls. I've been trying to ask around to see how other institutions do this, if they require any or all student staff to stay after commencement, but I haven't gotten many answers. But for some explanation, part of the issue that we're currently trying to work out is that the supervisors keep bringing up that it's in our contract, but no RAs seem to have a copy of the contract so we have nothing to review. Whether or not it's in the contract, the real issue remains that several seniors have explained that they have other obligations after graduation, and some are confused how they're supposed to travel home if their families are coming on a Saturday to…
