A friend of mine posted something I very much agree with: Something that leftists don't like to hear is that Americans are not Swiss. There are towns in this country with more people than braincells. America doesn't have to be and even can't be a direct democracy. There are many countries, like Venezuela or Sri Lanka that collapsed because of democratic populism, with the way things are going right now, even a parliament is too much democracy for the U.S. Maybe it needs to become an enlightened absolutist country like Singapore.

Hi Guys, I live and work in Canada. I visited my parents after 3 years of not seeing them due to Covid. I went down in Dec 2022 for about 3-4 weeks. I used my annual leave entitled to me and did not use any additional grace days or unpaid days. My manager told me that she had to pass through a lot of hoops to grant me this leave. She made me feel very bad during team meetings about how the team will have to cover for me. Now, I am planned to get married in Dec and will need about 8 weeks of leave. I am dreading asking them for this. I feel this is more of a vent/ I just wanted to share my emotions. I wish the labour laws in Canada was so much more towards Employees. Suddenly as the calendar hit 3/20 the cold winds stopped and it was 50⁰ and the long, cold winter is over. Today will be nicer. And I have a serious case of spring fever.
