How should work be
Hi guys, I am having this thought since I happen to start to despise what I do at work. My boss keeps us in a constant stress situation and it really starting to affect my life. My mom who has not seen me in 4 months first thing she said to me yesterday was “what's with all the grey hair?”. I'm 33 btw. I applied to the job because I have a background in statistics and I work in the statistics department and I do anything but that. I have to answer official letters, look at laws, write stupid formal stuff that has nothing to do with my background. Since I have 0 interest and experience, I suck at it. The pay is good but the work is def. not for me. So my question is, should work be something you like to do? Is the stress and depression worth…
I started a new job a month ago, thought things were going good. The place recently opened so obviously after a month some adjustments are gonna be made. But one of the owners/manager wanted me to change my availability from Mon-Fri to Tue-Sat. I told them no, and when I signed on this is what I was told I would get. Now they put out the schedule and suddenly I'm now just Tue-Fri. Dude is punishing me and I know it. Don't worry, I'm gonna talk to the other owner tomorrow, you know the one who offered me the job in the first place and tell her exactly what's going on.
ChatGPT is awesome but..
Yes, chatgpt is awesome and it's helped/helping countless of people in their day to day work. But the cynic in me says in the long run it's going to benefit the employers. Calculators, mobile phones, computers, new software, AI, all have been huge tech advances aimed at making our lives easier, but at the end of the day, we're still working 40 hour weeks. Some of us are probably doing the job of 3 people from a decade or two a go yet we know wages haven't increased by that much. My pet peeve is that ChatGPT will do the same. What do you guys think?
What should I do about my boss?
TLDR: my postmaster is telling my boss, landlord, and even people I don’t work for that. I am ignoring her, and that I am an untrustworthy employee. What should I do? Hello, I’m sorry if my grammar is bad enough is not my first language. Please currently work for the USPS and I was on medical leave for three months. My boss has not tried to get in contact with me since the beginning of the year. However since my disability ended on the 3rd of the month, and I have not received any response or schedule for Usps, I started working at the dinner in my town on the weekends. My postmaster saw me working there and went and cried tears saying how I’m ignoring her calls and that she doesn’t understand why I’m treating her like this. As well as hinting to my other boss that I might…
Sending out resumes
I've been working at a new clinic that hasn't seen patients in 5 months. I applied to jobs with insurance at the 3 month mark since I am uninsured. When I asked boss lady about insurance she gaslighted me and said she definitely gave us the sheets for United health care. Nope. She has me going to her other clinic once a week for “training”. 36 miles away ~ 40min drive. That's around $200 extra a week with 25¢ to the mile. I spent $100 on gas when I worked there a week straight. I live 5 minutes from the clinic I applied for. She laughed at me and said “I already pay you” when I brought up a milleage sheet and extra pay for gas. Since we haven't been seeing patients, she thinks that since I don't DO anything, I'm not worth paying for gas money when she requires…
Shortcut to life: Spend $9,000 in a day
I’m self employed and work on new build sites for a sub contractor company. I’ve worked for the same firm for about 3/4 years now and every 6 months the lady who sorts booking in phones us and threatens us with we won’t be paid if we don’t get this public liability insurance. I always palm her off and just don’t do it. But she is being persistent this time. All the lads have purchased it but I don’t won’t too as we’re never working with any public. So don’t see the point. Anyway I’m just wondering is it a legal requirement. I’ve read online that is isn’t. And also can this HR lady keep threading me with no payment of I don’t get it. Thanks in advance
