I'm currently working from home for a Verizon as a Customer service rep (aka sales) and its so demoralizing. Micro managed where you can get written up for not properly coding a 30 second water break. I can get in trouble for not pressuring a person into keeping service when a family member has died, and talking to me is the only way to remove that service. Shit feels like it should be illegal. pay is alright comes out to about 21-23$ before taxes and if you work weekends and include the yearly bonus. So today I'm asking around and seeing what other people are doing and how they like it… or at least how little they dislike it. I can do both tech and customer facing things like a breeze but this is just too immoral for me.

I've been looking to change companies for two months now (because my current one told me that I wasn't qualified for the promotion I asked for, but then asked me to do the work of that job anyway), and over those weeks I've come across many job listings that have been a 70-80% match for my skills, some of which have resulted in interviews that I turned down for various reasons. Very discouraging. Yesterday I come across a listing for my role in my area that looked like someone had found my resume on a job board and written the job req using the exact wording of my documents, down to the order I had items listed. This listing also has a salary range posted (miraculous!!!) so of course I apply, thinking I'll easily get a first round phone screening so I can learn more about it. In less than…
