I have been a sales representative at a small business for 2.5 years now. I am a salaried employee with commission paid out once each month. Have never received a raise, nor have I ever asked for one. I use a company car to commute from home to the office, and to also use to drive to sales calls. My boss took me to lunch last Tuesday and told me we were going to, “talk numbers.” When we sit down at the restaurant he starts by saying he can't afford to survive another year like we had last year, and that I shouldn't get commission on jobs that I didn't sell. These jobs he mentioned that I don't sell are ones that he takes care of by sending emails back and forth. He said he had been talking with some of his business owner friends and they were massively surprised…

I hate when employers do this
I just got off a phone interview, they asked what would I like my starting pay to be? I stated it says $17HR on the website so $17HR. They said where did I see this at Glassdoor? I said yes I did. They then explain that the staring pay is actually $11HR but with commissions you may earn $17HR. Dude this job is 65 hours a week. 8am-7pm. Shit sucks now you want to pay me fucking 11 dollars a damn hour. Does anyone else have any experience and wants to rant with me?!
Really tired of “on your own time” Here's this training teachers need to do. Don't worry, there won't be a meeting. Just do it on your own time. No, BTS week has no scheduled room setup hours. We know you'll do it on your own time. Here's this new tech tool. It's great and it'll save you time next year when you can reuse lessons. When will you make the lessons? I know we took your planning time for meetings, don't worry, you can do it on your own time. Said tech tool allows me to have kids make a recording of the things I needed to test individually (cries in primary education here). OK. 10 minute video, times 21 kids. When do I have time to watch them? On my own time, of course.
My CDL is a huge waste
One thing I regret is getting my CDL. It has been nothing but a waste of time. Don't get a CDL if you are married and have a family! This is a little rant. The only way any local jobs will hire is if you have 1 to 2 years of experience. Well the only way to get that, is going over the road, which you can't do if you have a family. Plus that sounds like a terrible situation. I cant imagine living in a truck for months at a time, just constantly working and driving all the time, with no freedom. No thanks! My hats off to you if you are one of those people that do this I can't just take off for long periods of time and leave my family behind. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I was single but I'm not. This whole…
Terminated for relocating
I was terminated Friday for making the decision to make a modest move to a city that is simply more convenient for me and my lifestyle. For context, my job position requires almost daily travel and I use my personal vehicle but am reimbursed .27c/mile for mileage and allotted a monthly “vehicle allowance”. We have at least 1 employee who lives 30 miles east of the city I am moving to (so even further from the main office – which I only report to once a week). I was told by the director of HR, my direct supervisor and his supervisor that my move is “too far away”, “they just don’t like that city” and while there are absolutely 0 issues with my performance, moving to this city has “the potential to effect future efficiency and potential for travel related delays due to traffic”. I was told I was giving…
