A rant about corporate changes

I just need to get this off my chest because my job is currently making me change my entire lifestyle and I hate it. I work for a well-known cafe chain in the US who is known for their 'clean' food (but is immortalized online for being overpriced hospital food). Im on the night shift, which is a single-person job per cafe. I make all the breads and pastries that get sold that day, and will gladly toot my own horn about the level of quality I put into my work. This has been my occupation for about 4 years now and I love it. Since I am responsible for myself there I get as many breaks as I want and am able to watch youtube/streaming stuff nonstop. As someone who hates interacting with others, its a dream job. Up until recently. Corporate decided to give us a notice that…

my boss always forces me to make me guess what she’s trying to say

Fellas, I’ve had it with this company I’m currently rendering my 30-day resignation for. For the background: I’m 28 (F) and my boss is 41 (F). I’ve been employed under her family’s company (she owns it yes) for 10 months and as the months go by she’s getting worse. I ain’t dumb by any means when it comes to being instructed to do tasks that go beyond my comfort zone and are tedious, but boy does she gaslight me to thinking I am the problem when it comes to miscommunication between us. I’m taking about having a formal job description of a manager, but I also have to shoulder an executive assistant’s workload because she couldnt give a damn in hiring one. I also shoulder events, planning and supply management, as well as copywriting and being the proofreader of her work. Again, out of my formal job description. ANYWAYS, months…

THANK YOU! This Subreddit Gave Me The Courage To Stand Up For Myself At Work

Hello all, I've been an anarchist and an anti-capitalist for years. However, because of my past experience in the military, being autistic, and the threat of losing my job always on my mind, I've often found it difficult to stand up to management at my workplace. That changed over the past year because of this subreddit. I've been at my job for almost seven years. Last year I finally got the guts to ask management to rearrange my schedule so I can have weekends off, and much to my surprise they granted it. Before this I hadn't had a weekend off in over a decade since rejoining the workforce after “The Great Recession”. A few months ago we got a new boss in upper management. He never worked for our company before. He's been doing what a lot of people in upper management do when they arrive…

What we were greeted with in the canteen today..

Walked into the canteen this morning to find this on each seating position and every table we have there. It's in Dutch so I'll translate: 2x per jaar = 2x per year Heerlijke recepten = delicious recipes Bouw een routine op die werkt voor jou = build a routine that works for you We werken niet te hard, we rechargen te weinig = we don't work too hard, we recharge too little. Elke maand inspirerende recharge talks = inspiring recharge talks every month Here's to being brainwashed at work 🤙

“If they ask ‘are you ok with the job only being for 4 months’ just say yes.” Red flag!

So I'm in the middle of a hiring process with a company. The recruiter had just called me out of the blue because he was telling me what to expect in the interview, which I thought was strange to begin with. He then says “He's going to ask 'are you okay working with this position even though the contract is only 4 months'? And if he does just say yes. This is a test to see if you're going to be loyal to us.” For one, the job description didn't say anything about a 4 month contract so that's just false advertising. But for another he told me that he was going to lie to me in my interview to see if I'll accept his BS. It's like the whole “one of us only tells lies, one of us only tells the truth” set ups for working an installation job.

Draining Hospitality

I have done hospitality for about 6 years across 3 different countries. I am a Canadian currently working in New Zealand and I must say, it is draining dealing with people who treat you different because they assume you’re American (which they clearly have a prejudice towards). Also hospitality in general, I just read a review about myself saying they were disappointed in the way I was STANDING while serving them?! (Think deli style, like subway). I can’t wait to get a different career 🥲

Nanofabricators An alternative to both Capitalism and Socialism

[Nanofabricators: a “Star Trek” vision of the future ](https://bigthink.com/the-future/nanofabricators/) [How a Machine That Can Make Anything Would Change Everything ](https://singularityhub.com/2017/12/25/the-nanofabricator-how-a-machine-that-can-make-anything-would-change-everything/) Will the invention of Nanofabricators be an alternative to both Capitalism(private ownership of means of production) and Socialism(State/Collective ownership of means of production)and directly lead us to a somewhat communist society. What do you all think?

This happened to me a couple years ago and I quit after getting it. Still can’t believe this person wrote this on my performance review, HR told me she meant it in a “helpful” way.
