Big company, typical 9-5 schedule but makes one bank holiday 8-5. No exceptions for Presidents Day. Is this normal?

I’m considered “mission essential”. I’m not even in the medical field or law enforcement. This was my first time out the military and taking a contracting job and I went for it because the pay. I didn’t even have an interview for this position. I had a security clearance and the skills needed but when I got here, it wasn’t what I thought. My boss told me during my onboarding process that 8 people before me quit. One person came in for a day and left after his training. One person left after a day The craziest one I heard is someone leaving after pulling his first 12 hour shift. I didn’t think it was a big deal because after being in tough positions in the military, I figured I could handle whatever is so “tough” about it. Well I found out a few months later why people quit. You’re…
I started a new job and one month in my “boss” fired me for missing two days of work. He also never reached out to me and had HR tell me. i couldn’t reach out to him as i was incapacitated in the hospital on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday morning got the boot. I have doctors notes. What do i do
Hi all, I am attempting to challenge the sickness policy at my organisation as we (a network of disabled staff) believe it is discriminatory. The policy is based on the 'normal' amount of time a default healthy person could be expected to take in a year. Clearly that doesn't work for people who are disabled and/or managing long term/chronic illnesses, and the stages of 'review' of attendance feel punitive to us. So I am looking for examples of workplaces that have got it right – where disability is not only accepted but radically supported and built into the culture of the organisation. Or even organisations that have a great sickness policy (or indeed, no sickness policy at all!). I have heard some European countries that do not have sick leave 'allowance' at all? For information, my organisation and I are UK based.
I have been with this company for five years. I have a lot of PTO and vacation built up. My car broke down and I ended up with no way of getting there. I used last week to get the car repaired and was told I could work remotely, which I did. I have access to my boss's email account through Gmail so when I work remotely I can help him delete spam and reply to things I would usually do plhysically in the office. Last Wednesday, he sent out an email asking his wife to post my job position on Indeed. I guess he doesn't think I read the outbox. By Friday, he had two people interviewed and there will be someone sitting at my desk today. He didn't tell me he was going to do any of this and I guess he didn't realize I would be seeing…
need new excuses to ditch work
Place of business consistently ignores my request for less hours due to leg injury and I'm currently at my limit. Wouldn't care if I was fired but I have a household to take care of so I just need a break.

It’s bad enough I have so many different accounts that I need to remember my username and passwords. But seriously if I’m searching a job on indeed and it redirects me to your website. DONT make me create and new username and password for a chance of getting one interview. Then I’m stuck with getting emails from said company. If you really think this is a good idea you are so wrong.
