My Boss is demanding I pay $80 for damages caused by a DIFFERENT employee, or lose my job.

I'm in a pretty crappy situation here, and I'm in no position to quit due to debt and low income, not to mention the job market in my area is dead right now (though I keep sending out applications hoping for a call.) I am a “senior associate” at my current company. A fake position that is in between being a Team Leader and regular staff, which is responsible for “being a good role-model and keeping other staff up to speed with store deals or new company goals” but you don't get any more pay than a regular employee. I was wondering why they invented this fake position they gave a couple of us a few months ago, but I think I just found out yesterday. One of the workers had incidentally drove our floor washer (you ride in it) too close to a display stand knocking over some wine…

Manager put my hours under wrong date?

I worked an extra shift last week, I was not able to clock in properly because my manager was late and no one was there to open the door. She told me not to clock on and that once I'm done with my shift I can change my start time by clocking off (said that it'll prompt me to enter a start time). It didn't work so my manager said they'd fix it. Well after messaging my manager, they said they got confused and put the time under the wrong date (one day prior to when I worked the extra shift). The hours are accurate, they're just on the wrong day. Should I be worried about this affecting anything? It's giving me a funny gut feeling.

Working at a retail makeup store, wanting to transfer locations due to management

I’ve been really stressed over these last couple of months with management. Yesterday was the last straw for me and I don’t know why I didn’t do anything sooner about this. Long story short, my role is like a mini manager up at the front registers. I’m supposed to be delegating tasks to other sales associates that are assigned at the register, such as doing go backs if it’s not busy, calling for back up if it’s needed. etc. basically anything that has to do with the front. My tasks are making sure order pick ups are all signed out, damages are done, go backs are organized, bags are filled, receipt papers are filled, grab and go area is organized and filled, and the gift card area is filled. Gift with purchases are organized and filled out in the binder. I’m also suppose to help associates that need help at…

My contracted hours are 0930-1730 but I have an internal meeting every Monday morning at 0900

It is just a team meeting going through workload etc. We are supposed to attend in person in the office instead of via Zoom. I know it's only half an hour and it's not that early but it kind of annoys me that it's just expected we will all be there. Would you say something in this instance or suck it up?

Why are the conservative types against antiwork?

I don't get it. Most of them aren't billionaire owners trying to squeeze value out of employees. Most have families, friends and hobbies they'd like to spend more time on and get paid more per hour. They all work regular jobs just like the rest of us. Work reform helps them and the benefits to them in terms of life improvement are pretty obvious ans the arguements against it are non existent. Yet they don't seem to want change. I can't find any reason and I feel like they are being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. An someone explain to me what reasons they could have?

When HR doesn’t know how to HR

I used to work for a very profitable multinational company which had absolutely attrocious employee turnover rates. As a younger, well performing employee, I was invited to participate in a focus group on how to retain others like me. There were loads of obvious issues. HR listened, but I started to get suspicious we wouldn't see any follow through. So I asked… “Clearly none of these concerns could be new to you. We've had dozens of people quit just this year and you always complete exit interviews. What have you already addressed based on the things you've heard from them?” Deadass serious, the HR manager said to the group… “Nothing. Exit interviews are considered confidential, ao it would be inappropriate to discuss those concerns with management” Meaning nobody in the organization was working on fixing anything. Or even made aware of their shortcomings. Needless to say, nothing ever changed, and…
