This system is beyond broken
Started a new job in September. Told me it was remote aside from some in office stuff in the beginning. Now that it’s fully staffed they’re requiring two in office days I left a remote position because I was told this was remote too They lied about paying us for mileage. We’re required to go to clients houses. Per their policy, they don’t reimburse unless the miles are greater than those to the office. That was not disclosed during interview, only the amount they pay for mileage. The office is 45 min away, so I essentially never get reimbursed. They straight said they hire part time employees to avoid paying benefits . They ask us to donate our PTO to help other employees They ask us to work weekends with no OT. They ask us to contribute financially to a required monthly meetings food. I got the mid health insurance…
Looking for new job.
So I am looking for a new job working with animals. Are there any “red flags” I should be worried about in this industry? My current job is fine (if your okay with passive aggressive coworkers and never making you life any better). But I am looking for an increase in pay and my ultimate career choose is with animals. I'm looking for something that pays $18 hr (NYS, VT area) and can keep my week to 20hrs. Is this even possible?
I ask because the fast food places and similar restaurants like them in Philadelphia and it’s suburbs start at 18$. Like there has to be a logical reason aside from greed for this. Otherwise…why are people going to school. They can just file for an LLC and open a business in the field they want and hire the qualified (schooled) people to do the work for the company while working at Wendy’s to pay that persons salary. Aka what the schooled person makes in revenue for the company is what the person at wendy’s is making on top of the 3$ difference.
Being guilted for calling out sick
Feel free to ignore just need to vent, hope thats okay. I work a job at a small family owned business. It's so small that we only have 6 workers including the owner. With that being so if one of us calls out it screws everyone. I never call out and will often push through days where I have a migraine or even gotten sick in the morning getting ready because I know they need me there. Well yesterday my stomach was doing flips and I had to hold back throwing up all morning 7am-12pm when I told them I didn't think I could stay the whole day they asked me if I could take a break and see if I feel well enough to finish the day. I agreed to try and after an hour break I was able to finish out the day. My boss, the owner, was…
I am in lower NY state. I have been on private disability for about 2 years now. First the week of Christmas I noticed I had been cut off from company email and my stock benefits had been rescinded and started asking HR and stock benefits team what was going on. I get the usual run around from hr at first but get an email from SB team saying I was “terminated”. For entire week HR placates me saying I'm “inactive” when I asked them for clarification. After I insist that my stock benefits be returned to me they finally admit “to clarify, you have been terminated.” Now, I just found out after a nessecary doctor's appointment I have no insurance that my employers own policy says they would continue to pay my health insurance. On a side note this company also violated their trainee pay policy with me for…
Should I just let this go as a manager?
My part timers don’t care at all. I’ve never been hard on them and I’m pretty lax, but lately I got a new manager and he didn’t like the way my store looked. I’ve tried doing most of the work fixing the place on my own but have asked for an occasional favor from my crew. They don’t pay any attention to detail. They half ass things, fudge the paper work, and slop their work together expecting me not to see… and that’s the best employee. Everyone here just wants to play on their phone when they don’t have customers… being that they are young kids, part time workers, minimum wage… what would an anti work perspective be on what I should do? I don’t want to just throw the baby out with the bath water and not give these younger people any direction or scolding… to me they are…
