I keep seeing an article getting posted to antiwork, so I thought it's best to debunk this article. The headline of the article is: You need to detach and ‘psychologically recover’ from work, professors say. The solution: commuting https://fortune.com/2023/02/02/remote-work-why-do-i-miss-commuting-psychological-detach-recovery-liminal-space-management-study/ DEBUNK: This title and article are very disingenuous, as the papers which are claiming that the commuting time is psychologically beneficial were written in 2010 and in 2014. These papers do not consider the phycology of the pandemic, or the fact that we shifted to a work from home model. The article knows this and is using the science outside its original context. AKA cherry-picking. Here are the titles, dates, links, and abstract for the psychology papers quoted: 2010 – Happy, healthy, and productive: The role of detachment from work during nonwork time. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/job.1924 Mentally distancing oneself from work during nonwork time can help restore resources lost because of work demands.…

It happened a couple of months ago: I had my yearly performance review at my office job, and my manager point blank asked me: “I don't think you like me?” I fully blanked out at that moment, because what are you supposed to reply to that? I babbled a reply around the lines of “oh no not at all, I just think it's important to keep some sort of professional distance with my management” because it is true, but he didn't seem convinced. He's now been even more distant at work, and it's harder to work with him. Other people…

how to make a resume
I really hate fast food work but that's all the experience I have, can someone help me make a resume that can help me get different types of jobs?
Waste my time? I’ll waste yours
So I had an interview scheduled for a local store at 1:00pm confirmed on indeed and over email. The place was about a20 minute walk from home. I get there a little early as you do and say that I'm here for an interview.. I'm met with confused looks and the two women in speaking to kind of glance at each other. “Are you sure it wasn't at 2:00?” “I'm fairly confident it was one, I can pull up the emails and check if you like” “It's just that I'm about to go on my lunch is all, could you possibly come back at 2?” Now it's freezing cold outside at this point so I'm not about to sit outside for an hour, and walking home and back would be a waste of time, so naturally I said “sure yeah no problem” and promptly went home and stayed home. I…
