He was a Roman politician that was gaining popularity for fighting for the working class. He lived from 163 – 133 BC. Here’s his Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiberius_Gracchus Basically, he was helping pass laws that would benefit the working class. The Roman senate hated this and so they ended up clubbing him to death. Then they slandered him about him being a tyrant. Wow, it looks like history not only rhymes but it truly does repeat.
I can’t wait to go on strike
I work at a major pharmaceutical company as a manufacturing operator in the liquids division. There, it is nearly impossible to move up in pay due to the skill system. Basically every room you know how to operate is a skill, and some machines add a lesser skill. Two A skills is a b skill, three b skills is a c skill, and three c skills let's you move up. Here's the problem, based on where you work it's very hard to get those skills. I can only move up one level out of 12. People in the solid medicine devision move up 6 levels. Dispensary is one. Washbay has none. I feel so sorry for the guy in washbay, he has the hardest job and he can't get out of that position because nobody else wants that skill. They also keep giving shit to a coworker. He's on a…
Just left my job of 8 months
I told my boss a month ago that if my pay doesn't get bumped up from 10.50, I was going to leave. They said wait until the budget meeting, so I stuck it out another month. The budget meeting has come and passed and they said they need more time to “discuss” pay. Let's just say, I've had it with their shit. I messaged the general manager, very kindly may i add, and she basically sassed me saying that I should show more respect. (I have screenshots, but I guess I can't post those until Sunday)
Every single profession seems f*cked
I graduated from college 3 years ago during the pandemic with a degree in political science and I intended to go to law school the following year. Thankfully the pandemic gave me an insane amount of time to be alone with my thoughts and I decided that law school was probably a shit idea. It’s expensive and soul sucking and lawyers work insane hours reading contracts all day and the salary isn’t even guaranteed to be high. However I’m stumped on what I should do because every single profession seems oversaturated, soul sucking, has no work life balance, and will probably be replaced by a computer at some point in the future. It’s borderline impossible to find real information and advice on a career. Health care workers are treated like absolute garbage and the work life balance is non existent. Tech seemed like the promise land, but it’s absolutely oversaturated.…
