Anti-work raisin d’etre
Post it note
Boss hands you this with no context. Whats your take? This is the second time this has happened. I'm in California. Medical and dental were the reason I switched to this job full time.
I recently left what many people would consider a “dream” career in a cool role for a storied institution because I made no money and felt bored, and I transitioned over into tech. In my new role, my boss has been frustrated that I'm not enough of a “self-starter” and he's right. I don't really want to be there, and it shows in my work. I have none of the new-job motivation I've had in my first few weeks at other roles. The problem is, there is no work I would WANT to do. There's no dream role I'm missing out on – I tried it and it wasn't for me. I have hobbies I love, but I have no desire to monetize them. I want a job where I can punch in, do what I'm told, punch out, and then get on with my life. Ideally with enough flexibility…
Am I about to get let go?
Would love your guys' thoughts on this. If I'm being irrational or not. For a bit of context, I'm the sole designer at a startup. I got laid off from my last job so you could say I have a bit of work-related PTSD. The PTSD is so bad that I feel the need to check my manager's google calendar every day just to make sure nothing “weird” is going on. I've been doing this ever since I first joined. Prior to this, I was on Linkedin. Linkedin has this feature that notifies you when your job title is searched by someone and the number of times you've appeared from those searches. I noticed the company I'm currently at, searched for my title, so I was kinda weirded out that they would look for a designer if I'm already there (I mean unless they're looking to expand but wouldn't they…
I am wondering if this is okay…
Hello all! 2 weeks ago, I resigned and I basically gave them 6 week notice. Things have gotten weirder and weirder. I was taken out of daily operations. This I am okay with. I get paid either way. They took over my email. I have 3 people who checks my emails every second. I feel disrespected on this one because I specifically told them that I would take care of emails. After they agreed, they started checking MY emails more. More importantly they are sending emails from MY email account under my name. Is this legal? I really dont want them to use my name when they send out emails. Can I tell them to stop? I just need some opinions
Still licking boots after being laid off
we pay for food, rent, and the internet while he sits around all day. should we have to evict him and make him get a job? he has severe mental health issues, and we feel guilty for pushing him to do anything. what should we do? (jk im the son in question… i dont want to work and would rather commit s than join society…)
