Typical Bullshit corporate
A few days ago, I posted on here. My boss asked me to come after my mandatory notice to train a newbie. Today, she revealed that to replace me, they will hire two persons. That is two salaries instead of one. And she couldn't afford to gave me a little raise? What the fuck??? The thing that made leave were: First; The companies is in the red so no raise but the same companies brought 5 new bmw for their manages and TWO: Me working three persons job need to prove I worth getting a raise. I am so furious about that.
Been working my ass off, getting Scheduled for doubles consistently, management won't hire new help and is actively trying to schedule another co worker to get her to quit. Feels like they are trying to work me to the bone till I eventually quit. Last 10 weeks 6 of my 10 opens as a bartender 730 am to 3 pm has been extended till 8pm close because people call in. Do I worry that I'm also being scheduled to hopefully quit so I don't get unemployment or what? I'm at work now this is probably a mess but I'd like to know how to get fired with out being put on a restaurant black list in my area.
Basically the title. To give you the short version I’m passively suicidal and work has said that accommodations to work remotely may not be possible because they are framed as me being disregulated and trying to fix medication. I find out next week for sure but if they say no should I just be very blunt with them? I’m just so tired and am beyond caring why are you dragging this out actually fuck iff
Sit-down jobs
How are you all staying sane in your sit down/desk jobs? My manager keeps doing everything that requires getting up. My other coworker is always running around and counting her steps. But I'm the receptionist and I'm the ONLY ONE who has to ask to use the washroom (to cover the phones) and I'm basically stuck to my desk. I ordered a stand up desk converter but I'm pretty ready to start moving. I find my brain turns to mush when I just sit and standing helps but getting my blood going really keeps my energy up. What do you guys do? My manager has no awareness. I had to explain why I wanted the converter and although she has been amazing and is covering the cost, I look at her and I am terrified. She has both hips replaced and not even 60, horrible beck and shoulder arthritis and…
Received lowball offer below range
Would you return to former employer if they said they can’t meet the salary you want? Or if they offered you a lowball salary below the range you gave? Old manager asked what it would take to bring me back, I said $68K. HR called and I gave them a range of $68-72K, but was told that’s too high, so I settled for a range of $65-68K. HR called and told me they can’t meet what I want and offered me $62K, which is below the range they made go to of $65-68K! I was making $48K when I left the company basically working two full time positions that combined into one when a coworker resigned. I currently make $55K at another company. I told them I won’t return for anything less than $68K, which they said okay we will revaluate and made the comment oh that’s only $2.50 more.…
I have been working my job for over a year and have been told it is my lack of leadership ability having issues working with a coworker who talks badly of me within earshot and has abused her power when I went for a promotion to make sure I didn’t get it. My new boss who took that promotion has his own issues. It all hit the fan when I heard her calling me incompetent to other coworkers after I covered her shift for 2 weeks on top of mine. I was done not saying anything to be a “better leader” and told them I am being harassed and need something done for me to be comfortable at work. My boss then said he would go to HR and see what next steps are. We had a meeting today to discuss our issues and I was continually cut off and…
“Understaffing”
In the early months of 2021, I was staying with my partner and their family and I was desperately trying to find work. My partner’s mom works for a grocery store, and she suggested I apply there. I did, but found work elsewhere shortly after applying, and thought nothing else of it. Today, in January of 2023, nearly TWO YEARS later, I get an email from the store’s HR department turning down my application. My partner, who also works at the store when they go home for school holidays, has been told by management multiple times that they “can’t get people to apply”. These same managers told my partner they’d be written up if they missed work to drive me to the airport when my mom was suddenly on life support four states away, saying “We’re too understaffed for you to miss your shift.”
“The Customer Is Always Right” – Rant
Had an angry customer call in…now I've dealt with angry people for over ten years, but never had anybody so angry they're screaming loudly enough to make my ear ring, and won't let me get a single word in. She continued to use profanity and personal insults towards me. After letting it slide three times I calmly told her I was happy to review her situation and discuss a resolution, but if she continues to use profanity I would disconnect the call. This riled her up even more and she said “This is 2023, it's not a conservative work environment where you don't allow customers to cuss at you” and then proceeded to call me “entitled”. She continued to cuss and scream and I eventually ended the call. But normally warning people you will disconnect does the trick (at least in my experience). I've never had anyone get even more…
