Okay so looking for new jobs and find a few positions I qualify for with a certain company so I apply. The company has great scores and reviews on Glassdoor so I start to feel confident. I hear back pretty quickly from a recruiter at the company and she lets me know that I will have to do an assessment. 30 minute Technical Assessment and 30 minute personality assessment….. wtf. So I do it. The “technical assessment” wasn't even technical, basic math and then stupid pattern questions. The personality was just as torturous as it's 100 questions that are so similar it drives you mad by the end. Oh well, it's done now maybe to the next step? Nope. Advice to navigate my internship!
Hi! I’m an international student doing an internship that requires me to drive across the state (I live in the US). To move around, the organization is paying for the Zipcars I’ve been using. However, the company is not giving me any insurance or other benefits but a salary per hour. I have health insurance through my school, but I think that if an accident happens or I get stopped by the cops for X or Y reasons, the one that should be responsible for any costs incurred or liability should be the employer, right? Should I ask them to get insurance to be covered in case an accident happens? What would be the best thing to do in this scenario? I’m not happy about driving being part of this job, but as an international student, it is what it is. I don’t think I can do anything about it.…
Currently I have accumulated a lot of sick/vacation/personal days off. I made the decision to quit and next week will be my final. However, I know they won't pay me for all those days of PTO unused. I was planning to play sick for a majority of my final week so that I can use my hard earned PTO. But I was told they can just take whatever I used out of my final check. Is this true? I mean what if I really was sick? Anyone have experience in this?
I’ve called out a lot in the past year, my first year working for this company. I think it totalled around 13-16 call-outs in the entire year, maybe more. I did not realise how sick I was during this time; was having unexplained nausea, limited work ability from severe migraines, couldn’t walk due to some back pain; all of these things conglomerated with my cholesterol and triglycerides skyrocketing at the end of the year and sending me into pancreatitis. I had to be off work for a month because my numbers kept fluctuating, I couldn’t walk for like a week of that, had so many doctors visits in follow-up that it would’ve been stupid to go back FT right then. I applied for FMLA but was denied because I hadn’t worked there a full year. Disability was under review last I left it, as was my ADA claim after being…
