Maybe I’m just used to minimum wage jobs, but is a $2000 dinner for 10 people normal in business? Supposed to be building customer relations but that still feels so extreme.

hired to fill a quota
some thoughts when we are hired to fill a quota, our experiences are not taken seriously. they are all about inclusion but when you need an accommodation they make you feel less than human. mental illness is another quota. they hire you to fill it, treat you less than and make you quit. they make you feel as if your mental illness won. companies will preach safe work environment and inclusions then don't. why do you think we quiet quit and shoot up store? why some steal, some take drugs. i know companies has to fill a quota. i am in this quota and i am experiencing this right now. i spoke up but i know many can not. go to HR? that's just self sabotage. anyone else feel this? does the press know?
My Fortune 500 company gave a gift to the employees in a large department to be used for “Wellness” (basically anything that improves your state of mind; salon appt, evening out, exercise equipment, vacation spending, etc.) Nothing was excluded, and there was a set dollar maximum (same amount for each person). They had about 60 days to spend it. The people in the department have a range of salaries. To avoid being taxed, the employees were to pay for their purchase on corporate credit cards and expense it. Some employees bought gift cards for different stores and companies (not Visa gift cards) to be used in the future and only those people were taxed on their paychecks as income after the fact. The company won’t reimburse them. It didn’t impact me directly but I find it unethical because they weren’t told that store gift cards would be taxed, in fact,…
Power back to the people!

So i've been at this job for 10 months. Been working my ass off like a slave for minimum wage despite being overqualified for the job. Accumulated up to 40 hours sick time and 2 days before christmas i got sick and the day of christmas a close friend died so i took off. Apparently it was a mandatory work day but what i had was highly contagious and embarrassing to say the least. Boss ends up getting mad and taking me off the schedule and basically firing me without any warning or explanation. had doctors notes and everything but apparently i had to get my father to talk to him to let me back. they switched payroll companies and with that process i ended up with 2 direct deposited checks which others in the job got as well but because now technically im “fired” i cant get direct deposit…
Seriously, wtf is wrong with recruiters? One of their “benefits” was working with a “great company goal oriented team.”
Boss at the place I was doing data entry for has had it out for me ever since I refused to be bothered by the bullying tactics she uses to keep power and make others afraid. I stuck it out long enough sock a little back, because I viewed quitting as a defeat. I wanted her to have to go through the effort. Last Tuesday, she decided to purposefully misunderstand a single, solitary word in an e-mail I sent that day…I'm still not 100% clear on what she was even bothered by, but she sent me home, canned me two days later. I went in on Friday to get my stuff after everyone was gone, and left a couple of messages for her on the office whiteboards, just calling her a name or two and insulting her ridiculous appearance. Apparently I am now a legend at that place among some…
