they never paid me my wages for the 4 months i was there (im in Hong Kong) i was originally going to just let it go since im on disability but yknow what. i deserve to be paid for all the hard work i put in.

Please tell me if I’m being silly. I work part-time and had to cover for my manager for 3 months (without extra pay). As a ‘reward’ they put me on development training (2 half day workshops a month) and a committee (all day once a month). If you miss the first workshop then you’re out of the development programme. I was off sick so couldn’t attend and now my manager was upset and grilled me on the type of sickness I had. I feel awful but I’ve worked so many hours for my team and they’re making me feel like I’ve missed a great opportunity. Am I just being silly for feeling guilty?

Applied for some jobs took one then volunteered to drive over an hour for on site training, went home.(friday) came in Saturday and worked 8+ hours to show I'm not just there and want to get the training done. Fast forward to this morning, about to leave for work and get a call from head of HR saying I'm being terminated. Before I start working there due to them not thinking it'll be a good fit. Inform her I worked Saturday and asked if I did something wrong there and she said no. When asked why I was being terminated she's said one of the reasons was I asked why the there was only a sexual harassment policy for unwanted things. The company I work for initially told us that this upcoming Friday was going to be a half day and we could all leave around noon 1pm. This morning we got an email saying that we are now being forced to attend a “mandatory potluck to build community in the office” (the boss here sucks ass and is always pissing people off but blames us) and that if we didn’t want to attend, we are required to use PTO. Can my boss legally do this? Can they forcefully make us attend this potluck crap and force us to use PTO if we don’t want to? I had already made plans for the rest of the day on the house I am fixing up.

Lots of help wanted signs up everywhere and yet every single time I hear about someone applying they are never hired. I'm really thinking that these companies don't want to staff their stores correctly. They just want to make it look like they do so we'll put up with crappy service and not blame them for causing the situation.
