I was born into this economic system, just like you were. I lived through inflation, too. My mortgage interest was over 14% and my car loan was 22%. We tried to change the system, just like you are trying. But, the rich tell politicians what laws to make and the banks pay people (others among us) to take our cars and throw us out of our homes. Happened last week. I was working on a task, but took a little break because of a problem and went to chat with other colleagues. we currently got way too much time so if we don't work for an hour its no deal, we have more time than work to do. Coworker then came around and gave me (and the apprentice) a task: “Go clean this entire area with the gel cleaner, walls too, and blast it off with the pressure washer”. Struggled to find the tools because nobody puts anything back, it took us 2 hours to just set everything up, especially the industrial pressure washer. I filled up the foam gun with the gel cleaner, since he didn't specify which one, I used my brain and came to the conclusion to use the red one, since this task was done elsewhere a day ago with the red gel…

We work at a small cafe, the cafe has been making about $200 dollars a day as it’s been very slow, and every so often I take my PTO to just enjoy myself. I have over 40 hours of it so I figure why not? I’m the manager and I get all my work done before I leave and everything runs smoothly, i place my orders do the schedule and make sure everyone is set up for success. He gets super mad and pissy about it every time and I don’t understand why. If I was just never showing up that’s one thing but why should I feel like I need to prioritize work over everything else like he does?

Yet not fired. Just not scheduled at all instead. It's embarrassing and shameful what they've done. I got an email from the boss at 9:43am on my FIRST day of holiday if we could meet at 11am. I said no, and that I wouldn't be available for 3 weeks, but we could talk through email. He refused that offer and instead decided to talk to my coworkers about me, asking me if they like me and claiming many have “complained I complain a lot”. Just last month I was still getting taught to manage and I was working hard as hell, but started seeing the cracks of this shit place and the new management is absurd. Since June I have been working at a company as an intern, and in November I was taken out to lunch by my boss and her telling me that she wants me to be her personal assistant and she likes my work and that I am reliable. I also was talking to another coworker who is in a junior position, and he told me that she really liked me and thought I worked hard. I am in Gen Z. I am surrounded by people who CONSTANTLY complain that they aren't paid enough. And they aren't. You cannot live on $12 an hour and I myself barely scrape by on $15 an hour. Here's the thing though. If you ask any person my age (18 – 25) if they have asked for a raise or negotiated higher pay than the asking price in an interview… they don't. I'm not talking about protesting for the “Fight for 15” or voting in a certain way. i'm honestly done. all throughout 2022, i've worked mostly service industry at restaurants, one being a money laundering front that was shady as hell. had a short little gig at selling juices which was okay, but not really for me. after that, went to one last restaurant that completely turned me off from working for other people ever again. i've noticed that if your bosses aren't fucking stupid, they're incompetent. if they aren't incompetent, they're racist and homophobic. if they aren't racist and homophobic, they're stealing my my labor. after working at abusive workplaces, i'm just done. so i decided to see if i could claim unemployment benefits. i honestly didn't even think i would get it, given that one of the jobs was off the books and the last job i had hates me, but i jumped for joy when i saw the email from NYS DOL saying that…
