Start shaming companies more for this.
I see a lot of posts about people (whether they are employed at a business or not) shaming people who are rude to staff who are 'just trying to help' or 'the only one that came in today' because we are short staffed. Don't get me wrong, people just shouldn't be pieces of shit to customer service/employees PERIOD. However, the business itself should not even BE OPEN if the best they can do is a single person or a staffing number that simply puts all of those who ended up coming in through stress, anxiety and sometimes trauma (depending on customer's behavior). Its SO SHITTY for a company to simply force people who come in to take the brunt force of the customer response to the company or business's poor decision to stay open.
