my girlfriend who is also working in the same facility as me came with me to the staff meeting & shortly was told by our manager (in front of some co workers) that she “had to leave” & “wasn’t allowed to be in the meeting due to confidentiality”. is this even allowed? she never signed anything or was told otherwise. she’s been off for about a month due to her ankle surgery date coming up soon but is still an employee. i gave my manager my gf’s doctors note almost two weeks ago & she told me “she didn’t have to come to the meeting”. she never told me she COULDNT come. i briefly spoke to her after the meeting (obvi i’m pissed) & she completely twisted it on me & gaslit me saying she did tell me but i know for a damn fact she did NOT. i would…
To preface is my first job out of college, I have been working for this company for about a year. I’ve been working toward a certain role but the one they want me to go for requires a lot of travel. Do I technically have to say yes?
After a year of employment I just got my hours reduced to nothing so I'm looking for a new job. Why does every single place require ridiculous amounts of experience? What would normally be entry level is requiring two or more years experience. Where am I supposed to get experience if no one will hire me?
I feel like I've seen a couple posts on here about how when there is a predicted winter snow storm, employers will tell their employees to stay the night at their job as to avoid the roads. This is always met with ridicule, rightly so. Well as a nanny, I'm seeing this play out in real time, and I'm truly baffled. Where I live there have been several winter storms in the past three weeks in a major metro area varying from subzero temps to ice and snow storms. Every time these are forecasted, our local nanny groups blow up on how to proceed. Today's storm rolls around and in our current discussion, multiple nannies were willing and open to staying the night at their employers house to ensure they can work the next day and avoid a bad commute. No one blinked an eye at these proposals and were…
I have always heard that after an interview you have a pretty good chance of receiving an offer. Studies show it’s around 50% for a second interview. However, since Covid it seems like I’m getting tons of interviews and no follow ups. Even when the interviewers show all the positive signs. I have done interview coaching and the specialist said my skills were really good, so I don’t think it’s some sort of social ineptness that I don’t realize. I’m wondering if they are not as selective with interviewing now? It sucks because I have to take PTO to interview and they usually don’t go anywhere.
People Work so Fast
So the last few jobs I've had, people work so fuckin fast I noticed. I'm not a fast worker and I dont see why I'd want to be a fast worker. When my time is up my time is up. People brag about working really fast and I don't get it. If that makes you happy then sure, that's cool. But why get mad at people working slow and you working fast isn't going to make you anymore money or get you a raise or whatever. I swear this country is becoming a big fuckin sweatshop. Drives me nuts. Let's just slow the fuck down, I ain't trying to go home with a fucked up back especially when you don't give me health insurance!
I work for a thrift shop that supports a mental health charity. The other day I was shoved, watched two children be thrown across the room, and while watching back the CCTV I saw him expose himself. He is intellectually disabled and I understand he does not understand his actions but that doesn't mean I am any else harmed by his actions. A already traumatized brain does not have a switch to say “oh he's disabled he doesn't get it ” on top of this some of my trauma is specifically around disabled people. Since this situation, my preexisting PTSD has gone haywire. I am constantly nauseous, and I can't sleep. I feel so unsafe at work and my dissociation which I had been working hard on and making breakthroughs on is so bad, especially since they have told me they won't ban him, BC it might be bad “publicity”…
