Employer clocking employees out (Texas)

At a company my friend works for they have started clocking people out when they see them on the cameras ‘not working’. For example my friend sat down for a few mins when work was slow, were then called by the employer and told they had been clocked out since they could see them sitting there on the camera. (Apparently they did inform some employees they would be doing this beforehand.) My question: is this legal? It seems borderline not but I wonder since they did inform them?

Lying on a résumé to meet their obscure qualifications?

Has anyone ever lied on a résumé to meet a jobs weird qualifications? Like example, needing experience with a very niche program? I am wanting to apply for a job that I am over qualified for, but on the job listing it says they prefer someone with knowledge of a certain state program, one that I can simply research and learn all I need about it without having to have worked with that program. Not trying to lie about education, or certifications, just obscure nitpicky knowledge.

Anyone know something to help?

My job is seasonal about 9 months but they require me to take 13 weeks off before calling me back. Used to be I could get by on unemployment as that was 26 weeks and would cover me well till I started again. That was usually 14-16 weeks. Well Kentucky cut theirs back to only 12. Opposition was from both urban and rural which surprised me. But the fact is the cost vs payout on many jobs isn't there. Drive like 30 miles a day for 9 an hour. It's a pittance and you hardly have anything after fuel and taxes. So I'm looking for remote work or someone who can guide me on getting this challenged. A compromise of 24 weeks was given but oh no, can't have that. “No one wants to work” even though studies showed TIME AND AGAIN that the extra pandemic money did not cause…

1099 contact worker getting stiffed…and not in the good way

Hi, all! I’m a 1099 contact worker. I have had direct deposit with this employer for the entire time I have worked there (18 months +). Never had a problem. I changed my direct deposit info at the beginning of December ands haven’t revived a payment since. For reference, this is 3 paychecks. Now the little shut heel is telling me they “cannot run payroll “ because changing my direct deposit info reset my account and they absolutely must have a W4 before paying me. Does this sound legit? They won’t respond to messages.

CAN-DO attitude: How to kill it immediately

Many years ago, I worked in an aircraft maintenance org. We had recently had a few close calls on the flight line; if we had not been so lucky, people would have died. The subsequent investigation revealed that people were pushing themselves too hard and were exhausted by all the overtime they were doing. The group leader decided to have a meeting about our “CAN DO” attitude and how it was leading us toward a disaster of our own making. So far, so good. They told us that we had to stop this or someone would get killed and that missing a scheduled flight was not worth the price someone would have to pay. Great right….. The next item on the agenda was an upcoming deployment of aircraft (3 in total), and we currently only had two that were available and one that was down for an extended period of…

Half of my team is leaving soon and my workload has doubled

I am a Junior Engineer at a Global well-respected company. I have been at the job for one year. Recently I noticed that my boss was assigning all my colleagues projects to me and being still relatively new I felt that I shouldn’t question this. I did approach my other colleague just venting about how I am swamped with work and it’s getting overwhelming. They disclosed that two of our senior team members are leaving soon therefore all their work has shifted to us. Now I am still getting paid the same but doing double the work. My pay is still very low and I barely make ends meet but here I am doing the work of someone who gets paid 2x my salary and working unpaid overtime to finish my work. What should I do? I asked my colleague if she will leave and she feels like she should…
