“Republican Congressman Rick Allen wants to cut Social Security by raising the retirement age because people “want to work more”. Do you think Rick Allen has ever talked to a person with a real job in his life? ” How clueless is this jerk? Home – Social Security Works This was the website that posted the article on Twitter. Reddit would not let me post a direct link to the twitter article. Bolding by me.

Gas station Logic
My mother was a manager at a local gas station. She had to run both the actual store, and the Subway that was connected to it, yet only got paid $12/hr. She had to do mostly everything, bc employees are lazy. Is this unfair or is it just me?
Persisting Apathy about Work
I was recently reprimanded for not doing enough on a work project and I can’t find the capacity to care. Anybody else? Not sure if this subreddit is the right place to post this. Some background: I graduated college during the pandemic and moved out of state to work for a startup in a pretty niche industry. Once I got there, the job was nothing like what I imagined with completely different responsibilities. The culture was awful, with a lot of drinking, long hours, poor leadership, just a classic toxic work environment. I found myself learning a lot here, but I was losing hours of sleep every night and was so anxious that I eventually started anxiety meds. I quit that job and moved back home to work for a nonprofit whose mission, theoretically, I believed. I thought the mission driven work would be a way for me to take…
Linked In Recruiters, what’s the deal?
Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit. Yesterday I was contacted by a recruiter to discuss a job opportunity. We set up a phone call for this morning, and when the time came, I received no phone call. I looked back in my email because his name must have pinged something in the back of my mind. This person had previously reached out to me to set up a phone call last year and similarly never ended up reaching out. My question would be, what exactly is the deal? Why set up a phone call only to not follow through? Is part of their job just showing their superiors they made Linked In reach outs but have no incentive to do the follow through on them?
Romanticizing an $18 an hr job:
Just posted about whether or not to give notice to a job that was extremely toxic. Sorry to post so much! The business owner of my current job is a narcissist who has continuously picked on me the past 7 months I've been here and threw 2 peoples' jobs on me when they quit. She picks on young women, mainly, and is always screaming. It has my fight or flight response constantly going off. Also, extreme micromanager with fucked up work from home/sick day policies and she doesn't trust her very kind, competent employees to do their jobs. So I need to quit because I think I'm getting an offer today. My plan is to give a fake two weeks notice to make sure that I get paid Friday, and then outright quit before Monday (after she inevitably tortures me for doing this). But anyway…. what to say, what to…
Do not work for BNY Mellon
My mom just got laid off from her job at BNY Mellon. They are as anti-worker as you can get. Every time workers tried to unionize over the years BNY fired every single supporter. This has happened several times. They also hire thousands of people only to use and abuse them and then lay them all off after they've provided their usefulness. They just laid off thousands to get bigger profits. “Make the books look nicer,” My mom asked for accommodations a little while before she got laid off because she has a disability. They denied it and now that she was laid off, she was thinking about suing for disability discrimination, but her last words on the matter is: “You can't fight a big company like that. You just can't.” Do not work for BNY Mellon. Period.
I know companies do background checks on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. But what about Reddit accounts? I mainly use this account to vent about work and working as well as post life related issues.
