I have a problem and that is that I am an extremely lazy person, in any walk of life, unless something totally grabs my attention and I want to work on it, I do. It particularly happens to me at university, I am not a person who has grades on the ground, but they are somewhat mediocre, and it happens because I am too lazy to do homework, work, etc. And the only thing that saves me are the exams (for which I don't even study but I usually do better than most), I really have a much higher intelligence than the rest of my classmates, that is, if I wanted to do it, I would be the best of the class, and I'm not showing off or trying to show off, even many people who have talked to me have told me: “hey, I didn't know you were so…

Kind of a long story, I tried to cut it down as much as possible. I originally typed out a novel, but it seemed way too long, so I'll just give the shortened version. I started a new job this week. The job post I initially found said full time with benefits with better pay than what I was getting, so I eagerly applied. I got to the interview, and the interviewer said full time wasn't guaranteed due to being a Flex position (meaning they schedule me when they need me) and that I could have a second job (which would have meant just cutting down my hours at my current job) to help make full time. I talked to the head supervisor today (finally, took all week to be able to) and was told that they wouldn't accommodate my second job at all and this job has to take…
Well, damn the industry.
I’m the manager of a small print shop. Business hit a plateau over the past year, and the writing probably is on the wall that new sales would shrink for 2023. I got a text from my boss, the owner, on Sunday afternoon saying he wanted me to call him to talk about the direction of the company for the next year. Even though it was my day off, I care about this company and the people that work there, so I called him. The owner told me that effective the next day, he is permanently shutting down the company. I was in a state of shock. He also cancelled all 2022 year-end bonuses. When I asked him why he would close the shop, he told me he has “enough money” and wants more time to spend with his wife and grandkids. He also told me to contact the employees…
My boss fails to see the irony
Today (Friday 13th) is a day off for me due to the 9-80 alternate-Friday-off schedule, whatever you want to call it. So it’s a nice long weekend. At 6:30 pm, my boss calls me to ask if we can do my performance review for last year. I’m not jazzed about it, but I agree because he tells me that he has to get the form submitted to HR by January 15 and it’s a firm deadline. I’m a team player, after all. He says I need to log on for a Microsoft teams meeting so I can see his screen. I do it. He tells me that my performance is “pretty solid” but I have a gap in “building trust”. The examples he cites are two instances over the past year where he has gotten a call in the evening hours because I have a document due and didn’t properly…
