Fired for sitting
I’m annoyed and I would like to share why. I worked for a small food service start up. Disorganized is being kind, shit show is being truthful. I recently got a second job to help make some more money so I decided to start cleaning kegs there because I would only have to do it once a week. First day comes around and I sit while the kegs are on the machine cleaning. Before though, I had I got it scrubbed down and any tape I could see peeled off. I’d sit, wait for it to get done, and then move it onto the cart. I would also get up and mop, sweep, wipe surfaces, and get more water to clean the outside of the kegs. Boss comes over to me and gives me a spiel about how “one of the selling points of the company is that we never…
I’ve been with a new job since early December so my insurance won’t kick in for another 2 weeks. I’ve been without mental health counseling since late October when my last job let me go. I was on meds for adhd and really bad sleep problems which will definitely affect one’s work. My boss has (type 2) diabetes. Where would she be without her meds? This was really insensitive and rude. I took a photo of the conversation for my records. screenshot The other day she was so understanding when I had a situation at home while working from home (I’m hybrid) but I think the COO got in her ear because the COO said this to me on the phone almost verbatim regarding the situation that happened at home (during my lunch break fwiw). People are so money hungry they forget a human with needs works for them. As…
Having to come into work is so annoying
I work as an office manager in construction. I work out of the main office and deal with the paperwork, payroll etc. I haven't met anyone from the jobs I'm working on, everything is done through email and text. A good 80-85% of my work depends on other people doing theirs. There's are days where I just come in and sit for 8 hours trying to pass time, but I have to look busy or ill be put onto other tasks that aren't relevant to my jobs. Having to wake up at 5 am and pay $3.40 for gas in order to do all this is insane, we can get everything done from home. There's literally no reason for me to be sitting in this cubicle. I could still wake up at 5 am, get a workout in and shower before I sit down for work. But I does pay…
At least that is how I feel. It is hard to not want to give in, I barely have any money to make bills let alone feed myself.
Sounds Like The American Workforce.
Whitewashing slavery at its finest
Is this bonded slavery?
Hi, I work in a service based company and there's a portal(ZOHO People) in which we have to check-in and checkout everyday, if we forget we get a chance to regularize the check-in & checkout requests but if you forget it then you will not be paid for these unregularized days. I forgot to regularize 3 days(I did check-in but forgot to checkout) owing to client's work. I did fill the timesheet for these days, I did client work and my company got paid for these days on behalf of me from client end. But my company says it's their policy that if a person forget to regularize their days then those days would be considered as “Loss of Pay” days and I'll not be paid anything or given any comp off days. Is this not injustice? Is this not bonded slavery? What should I do? I can handle everything…
WWYD between these two job offers?
I’m a career account manager and salesman. I’ve always waitressed, but I’ve been doing it full time for a few months while I figure my stuff out. I started interviewing a few weeks ago, and I have 2 solid job offers that I am considering. Benefits are horrible for both, but my husband has state employee insurance, so I’m not going to factor that in. Job 1 is with a pest control company as a commercial account manager. No base pay, normal 9-5 hours with 2 Saturdays a month. I was told there would be a $36k base, but there is no such animal, just commission. Commission is paid on a graduated scale based on volume. For example, if I sell $400k, I get 19%. The big benefit to that is there’s little to no competition for pest services in the area I live in. There’s also only 1 other…
