Sorry, just gotta rant… In CA, science/tech jobs are still being posted as being only $3-$10 more than the minimum wage of $15. How is this ok? No wonder college degrees are a waste of money!
I, (25F) work in an office with a small team. We just got a new assistant manager. Almost immediately upon getting the job started to micromanage me via email. I’d been lucky enough that our manager has trusted me to do my job independently, so the new assistant manager asking for step-by-step, minute-by-minute updates and the need to explain to me how to do my job when I did not ask for help is very off-putting. I reached out to her via email to (politely) tell her that I feel micromanaged and that I’m capable of doing my job on my own. I received no response in writing or in person for a week, until yesterday when she decided her new permanent space was right beside me. Now she has doubled down on the micromanaging. Most of our stuff is secondhand because of the environment, we don't own a car and we budget when it comes to groceries. Our biggest expenses are our travels which where we don't stay in luxury accomodations and try to not spend too…
My apologies for formatting, I'm on mobile. I'm old enough to have been fed the “good work ethic equals a good life” bullshit but young enough to smell it for the bullshit it is after working over half my life. After 20+ years of working non stop, do you know what my first thought is when I have an ailment? How much trouble or stress it will cause at my job and panic whenever I have to use sick time. I have a couple chronic conditions that have taught me how to work a job while feeling like I have the flu, so as a result I only take off work if one of my kids is sick or if my migraine is so bad I can't see. I think this way of thinking contributes to my stress and symptoms. I wonder how much less pain I'd have if I…
