https://www.ftc.gov/legal-library/browse/federal-register-notices/non-compete-clause-rulemaking Add your support at the website above which breaks down explains the proposed rule. There have already been several posts calling out attention to this proposed rule and I saw at least one with this link in the comments. I just wanted to reiterate to bring more attention to it and to put the link at the top so hopefully more people will see. (If someone has already done this, let me know and I will delete.) We get so few opportunities to voice our opinions in places that matter. I don't know if this will, but we can try.

Question for folks who work in retail
I am seeking advice from folks who work in retail. Just before Christmas, I was in a national chain department store. Like Ross or Kohl’s. It was ridiculously busy. I’ve purchased many things that night. One of them was a purse. The purse was a gift, and the receiver did not like the color, so I want to return it. I looked at my receipt from the night I bought it, and the purse is not on the receipt. The person who rang up my items must have missed it. I want to know if I will get the person in trouble if I take the purse back to the store? I will just give it to them, I’m not expecting money. We all make mistakes, and I have worked retail during the holidays and it’s hell. I don’t want the clerk to get in a lot of trouble. What…
Fired for gossiping?
Today me and two other coworkers were fired for gossiping, official reason was insubordination and creating a hostile work environment. We were talking about how bad management is and that we do too much for $9.50/hr. Manager overheard and proceeded not to say anything until I got to my shift. Coworkers were fired over text. Manager now one shift lead and has to put new people working opens and closes by themselves. Unemployment I guess?
I stop going to school and started full time with my job. Since the new year his 2 main hands have life problems causing them not to work. So now I can’t work because I am not trained for “quoting and selling” the job. Do you tell your boss that you are looking for a new job in hopes of some kind of hours? I don’t have any extra savings to just sit around. Edit: he constantly reminds us 3 that he needs more people.
Long story short I’ve been in a trade field for 5 years which all jobs require a degree in this trade plus upholding your license and paying to uphold said license. I was making $10 an hour. Saw McDonald’s was hiring for $15. Needless to say I just quit my job to go flip burgers for $15 an hour. I don’t know how anyone in these trades expect people to want to work when I can go work flexible hours and do easy work for way more money. (I’ve worked at McDonald’s before. It is an easy job. The customers are just annoying) Anyway there’s my little story for the day. I ain’t even bothered about it, for ppl who think fast food is below them, fast food is paying more than what your degree may offer. Best of luck out there all.
Fck the corporate world…
New here…after reading some of your posts regarding your insolent work superiors, all I can say is that’s one thing I don’t mind about working in auto shops. When the stupidity arises, I don’t have to go around asking for advice on how to react. I just say something along the lines of, “that’s fucking stupid”… or “you all can get fucked if you think I’m doing that”, and there’s little consequence because they need me cause I fix cars and make them money, and they’d rather put up with my shit than have to go hire another asshole who isn’t competent at the trade. Remember this, always know your worth. If you bring legitimate value and are a key part of that company’s success, then speak your mind. If they get butthurt then tell ‘em to kick rocks. You may have to get another job, but guess what, there’s…
I quit on my first day
Back in December, I decided to work at a Starbucks that was located in a grocery store after many years of being unemployed (had moved locations, gotten a few surgeries and aided my mother from her many procedures). I didn't really get an interview, it was more of a job offer due to the fact there weren't enough employees. I guess that was the first red flag. First day of work, I arrived five minutes early and took my time doing the paperwork. Employees were nice, questions were answered and they respected my scheduling request (part-time, off Monday and Tuesday minimum. That's all I wanted). I was happy after all that was promised; until I arrived at the floor. The establishment was filthy, and my trainer was not qualified to train. Such a sweet young woman and very shy but she could barely answer my questions. I would ask, “do…
