Work clothes
I'm going to be starting a job soon and they require employees to wear black pants and a white polo shirt, yours truly doesn't have any white polo shirts after purchasing required shirts for said job can I get reimbursed by them for the purchase? I'm in California btw thanks.
My boss often tries to make people that work the night shift to attend video calls or appointments outside the working hours. Fuck this kind of people, what the hell is wrong with them? Have they not worked the night shift? Do they know the health and social impact from working more than 8hrs? Are they just ignorant or plain don't care about people? He is fucked, cause as the head of a 24/7 office he is expected to be available 24/7, but he also makes a lot more than us and anyway, he'll just make a phone call to whoever is at the office and that's it…no real extra effort from him. That's it. I only wanted to vent a little.
3 PTO Days
So I'm searching for a new job and a decent benefits package is important to me. I found a local sales company that only gives (3) days of paid vacation in the first year. If you stay for year 3, you get 10 days! wow. Most companies I worked for, you get 10 days in the very first year What kind of sh*t company only (3) vacation days for an entire year? I'm sure morale is very high there! *sarcasm*
Funny isn’t it? Vacations are suppose to be a fun get-away from work and an escape to the thing we call life… but how are we suppose to enjoy a vacation knowing that it’s limited, that we have to go back to work, and the cost of said vacation was paid out of pocket or from our PTO if we have any? It’s such a tease. We work so hard to the point of just not working feels like a vacation too from the relief from stress. That going on vacation is just what life could be like if we were part of the 1% club for a brief period of time that they enjoy from wage thief every single fucking day.
Pants are a privilege earned by managers
Just wanted to share an experience I had on my first day at a Sonic drive-in. I show up for training and get shuffled to the back of the restaurant to watch training videos on a computer that looks like it’s been there since 1999. As I’m watching the videos, also probably from the 1990s, and I notice several little roaches darting across the floor, which made me uneasy, but I took note of it and finished the videos. The manager then tried to show me how to make the shakes and blasts. When I asked her about the roaches she said, “yeah we got some critters” and left it at that. Immediately after she said that, another roach crawled across the tops of the topping containers with m&ms, Oreos, cherries, etc…some of them were open and the roach just went on it! At this point I paused to evaluate…
