I have a decent work situation for myself rn, but my partner and a few of my friends have an issue at the moment. Our state's minimum wage went up by $1.25 with the turn of the new year. This means that new employees starting at the companies my partner and friends work at are making similar amounts to the amount my friends and partners are making after 2 to 4 years of small raises. Is there a good way to go about asking for a raise in that situation? In a bigger sense I believe that everyone should be paid the same thing in any job, because you need functioning toilets to be a CEO, but since this is the system we're in I think they should be getting some sort of inflation adjustment. Thoughts?
Seriously, am I really suppose to have friends, family, coworkers take phone calls just so I can get a job later? And when you have 50 applications going out, I personally would not return any calls if I was used as a reference, that would be annoying! And also, who is going to give out the name and number to someone who would give negative reviews about said person anyway! I think it is a ancient ideology that needs to be gone.

Should inheritance be capped?
I see that one of the biggest grievances people on this sub have is with rich people who have their money because it was willed to them by their parents, or at the very least had a substantial amount loaned or gifted to them to start their enterprises. Having said that, what should be done about it? Should the concept of inheritance be abolished? Or if it should only be capped, where do you draw a line?
It was originally from tik tok cringe. She mentioned how she makes a combined $120k a year with her husband and a lot of people were misunderstanding what she was complaining about. I wanted to send it to someone and it’s not in my saved Reddit posts and this sub/the other sub anymore. Thank you kindly!
Would be for front of house. Just curious what your experiences have been, good or bad. Anything I should know about working there if I get offered the job?
