https://twitter.com/FTC/status/1611015531921915908 FTC chair Lina Khan is backing the idea of banning non-compete agreements entirely, on the (my paraphrase) grounds that they amount to indentured servitude that does far more real harm than any imagined threat to “trade secrets” or “customer databases” – which are already protected under trade law and non-disclosures (a totally different beast). I play video games while working and my tasks get done but the reality is I’m probably doing 10 hours of work a week and dinking around for the rest. Is this normal? I’m terrified someone will figure it out but within my organization and team I’m highly regarded as a key employee. I could probably change companies and jump to the $200k+ range but I’d rather not risk losing what seems to be an amazing gig where I’m paid well and get to do what I want most of the day.
