All my manager does is escalate non-issues/trivial issues and turn them into big issues.

Like that is her role. I work in accounting under this manager and she reports to the controller. She reviews all of my work, pretty much always done perfectly, and finds little things that I’m pretty sure don’t actually matter. Then she makes me email and message and call 20 people to resolve it or she brings it up in a meeting or makes a meeting just to discuss that or all of the above. Example. There is this analysis I do every month. It’s done the exact same way every month. I do it as always but this month she goes “Why doesn’t this amount show up on this report?”. I quite literally responded “…Why would it?” She loops me into a group call with this other guy to bring it up and he explains why it wouldn’t be on the report and why it never has. Still, my…

Working life be like: wake up at 4:30 AM, drive to work at 5:15 AM. Start work at 6 AM. Finish work at 3 PM. Sit in rush hour traffic and come home at 5 PM. Then try to cook dinner and be tired for 3 hours, give up and go to bed. Then wake up, go to work and be gatekept by parents about being tired.

FTC recommends ban on noncompete agreements

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/01/05/ftc-noncompete-ban-lina-khan/ The FTC is moving towards a hard ban on noncompete agreements, which are inherently anti-competitive and fuck over workers. I, personally, was recently forced to sign a noncompete agreements in order to continue being employed with a company that bought mine out. This was a blatant attempt to try to force retention, by threatening legal action if we went to other companies within the industry.

I’m not letting my manager continue to be an absentee manager and it’s improving my relationships with “difficult” coworkers.

I've decided when I encounter a “difficult” coworker it's no longer my job to figure out a solution. I now come at these situations with the same energy as someone calling out and telling the manager to find a replacement. You wanted the manager job, so manage. My “difficult” coworker is highly opinionated and untrusting. In the past I would be saying these things as a judgement and coming up with ways I could get them to change. They dig their heels in on things that don't seem that important to me despite having a fraction of the experience I do. And laying out the entire situation for them just leads them to double checking everything I've done and coming to the same conclusion 4 hours later. In the past I would be seething at my coworker for this. Now? I don't care. The only energy I put towards this…

Fuck my work ethic.

Like I can't help but be dedicated to my job. And doing my job well. It's like a personality thing. But I fucking hate every company I have ever worked for. I struggle because I have coworkers who embrace the concept of “minimum wage=minimum effort” but that makes more work for people like me who just wants to do the job i was hired for, even if the company doesn't deserve my effort. Ugh, just a rant. I just wish I made enough now, that I could afford to treat my job in that way, instead if I want to eat or have shelter i have learned to kiss corporate ass.

Is 39hr a week part-time? HR is making new policies and denying us a company meeting to talk about it.

I'm in Washington. They are making 40+ full time, 39 or less part time. When I looked up full-time for the state, it said 32hr+ is full time. I don't understand. I've tried to talk to hr, but it's like talking in circles. She is really mean. I don't want to go back to her office. Even if they can legally do this, what can I do to stop it?
