Am I the only one pissed off these old people get paid the equivalent of $83 an hour to sit on their ass all day today, on their phone, talking to friends, and taking a nap? If I tried to pull that shit at my 15/h job I’d get written up and possibly fired. Why are we paying them this much to do Jack shit? Is it not like this every day? Even so if they have an 8 hour day today they will make 664 dollars today alone. That’s groceries, vaccines, vet bills. Hell that’s just for one of these guys? The 218 votes alone they are waiting for will take a total of $144,752 of tax dollars today. That’s only the votes to make a minimum win. The people making this go on for days at a time don’t care about us Americans, otherwise the wouldn’t be fucking…
Kinda irks me. As much as I wish I could work at a job that’s walking distance from my home, it’s not always possible. Also, yea, I know that we are single-handedly choosing to work at the jobs we have but at the same time, employers are also choosing to hire employees from different cities….idk I just find it annoying how I take even more time out of my day (in addition to my shift) driving to work and then having to drive back home. It amounts to an hour/hour and a half roundtrip…an hour/hour and a half that I’m not paid for.
The management we all deserve
For context I work in Iowa (at will state) and I just resigned giving them one week notice. I just wanted to wind up my projects before my last day. My HR is saying I won’t get paid for my accrued vacation days (15 days) because I didn’t give 2 weeks notice. Can they legally do this? Thank you!
why is there a worker shortage?
Why are there alot of companies struggling to find and maintain workers 2 years after a pandemic shutdown even though pandemic emergency unemployment ran out? I keep running into owners of different businesses like restaurants and retail complaining about nobody wanting to work and how they have to spend more time working at their business due to understaffing. Another question I have is, how are alot of these people who left these jobs making money and surviving now? It took a pandemic for people to come up with creative ideas to make money,???
Sorry for messaging here but I don’t know where to ask. Hello my roommate just got “reprimanded” by her manager and the upper boss for asking who to renegotiate their contract with. Apparently the contract agency has told her that it isn’t their responsibility as the workplace approves and sets base rates and would be need to be done by the workplace. The workplace has put in a extension or renewal of her contract already without discussing with her, but her workplace keeps telling her it is the contract agency that needs to be discussed with to renegotiate rates and PTO. She has discussed this process with another temp who is coming up on a new contract as well, and apparently this pissed the bosses off more because when they went up to ask as well who to talk. The company felt “blindsided.” My roommate was unofficially called to the…
What gives you a sense of purpose?
Please let me know what makes life worth living for you. I’m having a tough time. (Yes I do have a therapist.)
I don’t think that was appropriate
For some background, I moved to Philly back in February to take a promotion with the same company. Money wasn’t where I wanted it to be but wife and I agreed there would be more opportunities than we had in rural Ohio. Fast forward several months and the supervisor for the new position had irritated me beyond the pale, the final straw being when he told me I should’ve stepped over a colleague who was in the middle of seizing and get back to work, effectively letting my colleague die. Paramedics, my wife, everyone else who was there said that I specifically had saved his life so this isn’t an ego thing. Anyways, about a month later I found a job at another company set to start after thanksgiving and gave them 4 weeks notice at my old job, and offering to come in nights and weekends to complete setting…
