Perhaps this is just in a perfect world and I'm just a child dreaming but why not keep WFH orders in place, and all those empty office spaces be renovated to cheap apartments to aid in some of the housing crisis. Yeah? No…? Ok good talk.

Not too long ago I reached out to businesses/organisations/universities in my field (recent undergrad grad) asking to meet to talk about job opportunities, in an effort to make connections because where I live it's virtually impossible to get a good job in your field without “knowing someone”. The other day I was emailed back by one university research centre, letting me know that there is a job opportunity available and they invite me to apply for it. From our correspondence, they seem really eager for me to apply, which seems great! Unfortunately, the link they sent me to the job posting didn't work, so I just searched on their site for any jobs relating to that department. I found one, and it seemed promising- 40-50k full time with benefits, only on term but with possibility for renewal. Not as secure as i'd like, but i'd be willing to take the…

I had been looking for a job for a couple weeks after leaving a toxic work environment. I was criticized at my last job, talked down to, and overall didn’t feel respected. I finally have another job. At my new job I already feel uncomfortable and micromanaged. My question is: Will a place where you feel uncomfortable maybe get better, or worse? I really need this job— I’m trying to move out of my current apartment to another in town.

I been at quite a few jobs now, I'm always seen as a good worker, getting things done, being a point of contact for things nobody else knows how to do, etc. Always have good reviews and all that. Most I've ever gotten is a 5% raise and a pat on the back, while I see others thrive and flourish in their careers. I know it doesn't matter and we should job hop frequently to get the best possible compensation, benefits, etc. In all honesty I don't even know if I wanted to be in charge of a team, for example. I know I should ask for it of that's what I wanted. But it would be nice to at least be asked or considered for the position. I’m about to get evicted and desperately need a job. I saw this small business I used to shop at down the street hiring and they asked me after the interview to come back the next day for a 2 hour unpaid “working interview.” Never heard of this and almost didn’t go but last minute decided to try. It was basically like they were training me and had me assist customers and try out the register on my own. And this is all for an entry level retail position.. After it was over and the supervisor said “they’d be in touch with me” I immediately knew I was gonna get ghosted. She said I did wonderfully and needed to check with the owner but I’d most likely get the job. But no I got ghosted. I expected this, just wondering how this can be legal?? I’m in california.
