Automation: The Illusion of Freedom and the Reality of Surplus

In a small town nestled amidst the rolling hills, there existed two thriving businesses – both dedicated to the production of needles and supplies. In this idyllic setting, demand and supply existed in perfect harmony, a delicate balance that had been carefully maintained over the years. However, one of these businesses, spurred by the promises of technological advancements, chose to embrace automation to increase their productivity. And indeed, the results were impressive – output soared to new heights, while the demand remained unchanged. But alas, the consequences of this decision were not all positive. Rather than simply retaining the same productivity levels and releasing a few human hours, the business found itself with a surplus of products, and a pressing need to create more demand. And so, in a cruel twist of fate, the very automation that was meant to free humans from their toil, ended up imprisoning them. The…

And so, in a cruel twist of fate, the very automation that was meant to free humans from their toil, ended up imprisoning them. The once harmonious balance between demand and supply was now shattered, and the business was left scrambling to find ways to maintain their newfound productivity levels.

PS: I read this in some book and the idea got stuck in my head forever. I just wrote a little more in detail.
