Hello, I am an upcoming college grad in the U.S. and I'm trying my utmost to avoid the pipeline into a corporate 8-5 job, since I don't believe in that way of life. I was wondering if I could provide some information about myself here and you all could try to help me figure out what to do. My goal is to have a career by which I can sustain myself and feel some sense of fulfillment and achievement while having a flexible, self-driven schedule so I can live my life. I've considered trying to work for myself, but I'm not sure on what skill I could base a career/what's out there for someone with my skills and interests. Maybe you all could help me a little with that, and thanks in advance for any responses. Here is some information:
My degree is in mechanical engineering with a Chinese minor, GPA is high. My skills at this point include excellent writing, decent CAD, some project management, some coding, and conversational Chinese. My passions include language learning, helping others, and educating kids. My interests include personal fitness, martial arts, writing, technology, and being a jack of all trades but master of none. My strengths include competitiveness and ability to learn new things quickly and weaknesses include poor handling of stress. I am willing to work an 8-5 for a few years to gain any experience necessary to free myself from that.
Some things I've considered so far are being a sales engineer, freelance writer, or personal trainer. None of those seem to quite fit the bill of what I need but I'm open to changing my mind.
Thanks again in advance for any help! Time to paste this into ChatGPT and see what happens.
