Back in the day I had a job at Wendy’s.

We had a timer for the drive thru counting how long the cars were at the window. The average time for the shift was tracked and reviewed by the higher bosses. Our shift manager told us if we got the timer under 30 second average for the shift he would pay all of us $50 out of his own pocket. He did this so he could look good for his boss by have big a good time on his shift. At the end of the shift it was under 30 seconds but he wouldn’t give us the money saying we must have manipulated the timer by holding something over the sensor for a few seconds at a time to lower the average time (which we didn’t). Guess who never busted their ass for that guy ever again.
