Bait and Switch in the last 5 minutes of interview!

So, i was going through an interview with a company. It was for a sales managers role. The position suited me perfectly, it was very close to what I already do, with less “additions” (you know, the stuff you do but don’t get paid for that you pick up over the years). They flew me out to mainland Europe (I’m from the UK) for the final interview – Spent the day showing me the offices and introducing me to people. It was going great. They flew me out to mainland Europe (I’m from the UK) for the final interview – Spent the day showing me the offices and introducing me to people. It was going great.

In the last few minutes they told me what they were actually looking for was a sales person who could grow into a manager role. I was fuming. I asked if they were paying two salaries, they looked bewildered.

Then I asked if they really expected me to take a giant step back to earn a position that I have been doing for the last 10 years. Again, no answer.

I have no idea what they were thinking, the role they really wanted to fill was not the role that they advertised and I applied for.

Still fuming!!!
