I was just informed by my employer of 15 years that I lost my vacation accrual because of COVID policies that shut us down. As a result, I’m now batched in with newer employees for a whopping TWENTY FOUR HOURS OF PTO A YEAR.
On top of that, if… for ANY REASON, I don’t meet the minimum hours in a 30 day period, I lose my health benefits…which are fucking abysmal, BTW… for 60 days.
I work, on average, 40-45 hours a week, full time. I haven’t seen a raise in 5 years, and I’ve really only stayed because the shift has great timing for my kids and the school schedules. Looks like I’m going to have to have my family life take a giant disruptive shit because my employer’s corpo-slime needed a few more nickels to rub together.
I see it everywhere, and now I feel it. We are being turned into serfs. Maybe I should just get into politics and make large amounts of easy, dirty money that I can legislate away any criminality for myself.
