I worked for a few years as a Controller at an organization with a totally worthless HR role. Claimed repeatedly they knew how to do things ‘in the old system’ we hadn’t used in years. A year of overtime covering two vacant positions in my department, hiring, and training those staff had me running ragged. Got that excuse for the fifth time, asked them to google it before making my team do their work. Boss got furious. Went through a 60+ minute convo I asked to stop several times because of the aggression and was ignored each time. Boss questioned my understanding of my job, my understanding of a career I’ve managed for 17 years, and then, absurdly, suggested my position wasn’t compatible with someone with a child. At the time she knew my wife was 6 months pregnant. Fast forward 11 months and finally found a better job with better pay and benefits. Quit with no fucking notice and feel like a king!!
