blue collar workers and status

I think this is common knowledge to most people in this subreddit but man it's quite shocking how many negative preconceived notions people especially white collar workers and other people that work fancy ass jobs have towards blue collar workers. I see it everywhere from people losing interest in conversation when a person reveals they're an electrician, being seen as “low value” or even unclean if someone says they're a plumber. Farmers especially are another type of blue collar worker that is unfortunately not very high in social class structure and it annoys me to no ends how all these types of workers aren't as valued as say software engineers scientists, chemists, mechanical engineers, sales representatives, department chairs, doctors lawyers politicians (tbf politicians should be treated a lot worse then they are now), etc. This is also partly why I'm trying to stay away from asking people what job they do because it's not good to judge others by what they do for a living so long as they're not doing jobs harmful to other people.
