Bojangles doesn’t give you breaks

Hi everyone. I'm tired from working an almost 9 hour shift at Bojangles without a break. In my nearly five months working there, I have only gotten a 30 minute break about four times. I've gotten a 15 minute break once. But it's not bad. I get $12 an hour. I was asked if I'd like to promote to a position that'll give me an extra 30¢. I usually only work around an 8 hr 30 min day and work only four days out of the week. But I average around 35 hours a week. I've got college to pay for and I'm taking five classes this semester. I'm really tired. Some of the employees have asked for breaks, but it's always the same answer. We're understaffed. We don't have enough people to cover. But, we always have enough people for pregnant smokers to go take a smoke break several times a work shift and during a rush. If we call out, we risk not being put on the schedule for a week. I can't afford to lose my hours, so I and everyone else don't say anything. Managers have it worse. Some have to be at work by 4:30 am. They don't leave till 2 pm. Then they have to go to the bank to cash in the drawers. They get back at the store around 4pm then clock out. Good money, never allowed breaks. We get free food at least. But, we have to hide in a corner so no one can see. Especially the general manager who comes by a lot. So I usually don't eat anything except a quick Boround for an over 8 hour shift. We were also told that we have to eat in the lobby where customers are. We can't be seen by the customers eating. There is always a customer. They will yell at us and complain about us eating food. They have done that in the past. I'm tired.
