There was a fire in the kitchen about a week before Christmas. All employees of this store were put out of work right before the holidays. Some have been sent to other Bonefish locations, some have been sent to other Bloomin Brand restaurants – everyone else is just without work for the foreseeable future. I worked here up until a few months ago. Aside from management, these are really great people just trying to make an honest living. Some are struggling to navigate their new jobs, being squeezed into schedules that couldn't really fit them to begin with. Their futures are up in the air. Besides being placed in another job, they haven't heard anything from the company nor has the company tried to help financially in any way. Bloomin Brands generates over 1 Billion in revenue. This is so shitty. It should be noted that this company also has a special crisis fund that employees can pay into in case something terrible happens, they contribute finances to fellow employees to get them through it. They have not offered that here.
A local Destin, FL business owner put up funds himself and started a fundraiser to help them get through the holidays without worrying about making rent.
Here's a link to an article about the fundraiser for the employees
