Asking the older folks in the room. I always see comments about “printing out your resume to hand out” and “insisting to speak with the owner” and “giving him a firm handshake.” Things like that. Did those strategies actually work back then? And what can you share about your experience? Why do boomers still give out this bad advice in this day and age?
I was just curious about this. For context, I’m in my early 30s and strategies like this were not taught in my high school. We had career fairs where we were taught how to write a resume, how to fill out online applications, things that are more practical for today’s era.
