Well here we are. I started a moving job about 6-7 months ago. To give some backstory I'm a CDL A driver with now, all qualifications (tanker hazmat, doubles triples and no manual restriction). I left my previous job for this one due the boss being an idiot.
When I first started here I was told I would get my pay raise after 90 days to 33$ from 30$. And get my sign on bonus of 1400$. Sign on was shit but whatever.
Well 90 days comes and goes along with the manager who hired me. Low and behold it turns out the previous manager doesn't write any of that down. Nor does he remember a sign on bonus. But I still had the job posting stating the sign on at least.
I ended up having a pretty heated conversation with the new manager. Well he ended up giving me a dollar raise and half the sign on bonus plus an extra 100 on top until I get my manual restriction removed which at the time I didn't have done because no one was using manuals.
Because me and my wife were about to move, I accepted it for the time being with the exact words “if I don't see 33$ after this we will have a problem.”
Welp after having to schedule the tests months in advance and having the company pay for it I got it done with and today was payday. After I had been told my pay raise had gone through and accepted.
Welp this morning I see 32$ instead of 33$. Got the rest of my sign on but that dollar is more important.
So this morning I'm going to have a fun conversation about that missing dollar. They can't hire CDL drivers, no one stays because it's a very physical and mentally taxing job. I may be paid more to begin with but due to my skills and the revenue being able to use a large truck brings in, I'm worth a lot to a struggling branch.
7 indeed applications later and Ive heard back from 4 within an hour before I head to work.
