Antiwork

Boss said- you are hiding behind the tools and not initiative, while I was literally alone in my shift for the whole year.

I work at a semiconductors fab, shift work 12h 4-4. You do 2 day shifts then 2 nights and then 4 days off when one of them you are recovering from a night shift. This kind of shifts driving me crazy as you literally got to switch from daytime to night time life every 2 days. Can't sleep well, no appetite or any sort of day order. But that's not the case. We are usually 2 engineers per shift, for safety and work reasons, there is a lot of dangerous and heavy equipment, vapors, vacuum, pneumatics, toxic gases, pinch points etc. I am quite new in this team and really quickly learned the tool and started to do my job at best with fast troubleshooting and efficient service.

Sometimes when someone is sick or at pto and there is no floater we did get to work alone with someone from other shift being on-call for serious tasks if something happens at fab.

Slowly I started to notice that I being put alone more and more often, and my coshifter becoming the floater for other shifts.

Since this year I was all the year alone, with no on-call person for backup. So everything that happens among 30 tools is on me. Troubleshooting, fixing plan, fixing, verification, documentation.

Once I heard my second tier boss saying to someone “oh “my name” can do everything alone we already know that”.

So the yearly interview happened with the ops, the boss of my boss. And after praising how quickly I became a qualified engineer. He had a big BUT that erased all of my credit. He said I am hiding behind the tools and he can't see me initiating something for the team. Not a word of me being alone for the whole year. I didn't say nothing to him but waved with my head.

Since, I don't give a shit and often mark the task as next shift problems since I can't do it alone for any reason that I find.

I was thinking of making a calculation of saved salary on another CE that wasn't there while should be.

They are paying good enough for me to just shut up, personal car etc, but I feel like it's another company where no matter what you do they will make you feel bad.

So I am having really bad life switching from day to night so often, I am losing my life power being 12hours alone among just machines and noise. And I am working x2 without my boss giving me any credit.

Should I start complain? I honestly a quite humble person and don't like all this “give me my credit” stuff.

But I feel like am too naive to think they would/should care..
