Boss trying to avoid paying bonus

Basically, I’ve been working in the healthcare industry for almost 2 years. It’s my first job, straight out of grad school. I have just decided that I want to leave my job, and start finding a new one. The reason behind it is mainly because of my workaholic boss who just treats everyone in the workplace nothing but robots. She expects us to work overtime (without paying), eating into our lunch time, she only focuses on your weaknesses and the people there are VERY underpaid. Including myself. But as a fresh graduate, I didn’t have much confidence in treating patients until now and then I realised that I was being worked to the bone for dirt money. So I decided to go for an interview. The next day I received a message that I got shortlisted. So as a courtesy, I informed my boss that I will be going, and…

So as a courtesy, I informed my boss that I will be going, and once I get the job offer, I’ll serve notice. I did this because I knew how difficult it would be for existing staff to take over my role, and I wanted to give my boss more time to find someone else so I can train them (my notice is 1 month, so this is more than ample time I’m giving her). And also because I was afraid the other boss would call mine for reference.

To my surprise, she said she expected it. She said that I’ve been different lately and can tell that I’m unhappy. But she appreciate me telling her this to give a heads up. I said I wasn’t sure whether I should tell you this but yeah I did it anyway.

I went for the job interview, immediately got hired. Was offered higher than my asking. So I texted her that I accepted the offer, and I’ll be serving notice next year. As I wanted the year end additional bonus which I earned from working the whole year. Additionally the other person was still serving notice so I couldn’t start work there even after my notice ends. All she said was congrats and we will discuss it further in person.

Few days later, I prepared my resignation letter for January and I passed it to her today in advance as I would be away end of December. I also didn’t want my new job to be affected if there was any delays.

First thing she said to me was that I’ve been acting negative and that I was being the staff’s morale down by leaving. And she kept repeating that everyone expected me to leave because I looked unhappy. Then she started saying that I show emotions easily (even though I wear masks ALL THE TIME) and that I was practically encouraging people to leave as well.

She then asked me whether I want to resign right now, and take a break before my new job starts next year. Obviously as I wanted my year end incentives that I earned, she asked me to think about it.

What is she actually trying to do? I’ve practically work my ass off all the time and I was always there for her when she needed me. So why is she acting like this? To be honest, I feel kind of hurt. Is she just trying to avoid paying me the incentive? Or she just wants to get rid of me?
