Is my employer allowed to change remote job I was hired for into an in-office role?

I was hired in a salaried position at a tech company. The conversations I had upon being hired were that I was not expected to come into the office. It was made very clear that I lived a more than 2.5 hour drive away from and that being in the office day to day was not a possibility. Over the past few months there has been a push to get employees back in the office “post covid” which hasn't applied to me as I was remote. Today however my manager has a meeting with me informing me that I would need to be in the office 3 days a week beginning next month. I don't have a car and even if I did a 6-hour commute is out of the question. What are my options? Do I have any? All I said during the conversation was “Okay” and reiterated how…
