Started a new job as a residential solar install lead, and everything is great apart from one thing. When I initially interviewed for the job I was told there would be a company vehicle for me to drive while working, or I could use my own truck and be paid mileage. Since starting, boss has been in the process of purchasing a company vehicle for my use, so I have driven a lot of miles in my personal truck. If he were to pay me mileage I would be owed over $400 for two weeks of driving. Boss called me yesterday and wants to give me an allowance instead, $100 per week when driving my personal truck. This seems… not ok. Really ideally I would prefer to just take the company vehicle home every night so I can keep all of my tools and parts with me at all times. He is hesitant to that because I live about 20 miles outside of the city we primarily work in. Any thought on this?
