Broke Ankle at Work

I broke my ankle at work a couple weeks ago. I slipped walking in the door on my lunch break because it was raining and the mat had been moved. When I talked to L&I yesterday (had to go through surgery and was out of it for a bit) the woman asked. “What's your reason for wanting to return to work?” Um, I need money to live??? And for the record, I'm only getting 60% of my wages, which is wild considering full wages isn't enough to live off of. Um, I need money to live???
And for the record, I'm only getting 60% of my wages, which is wild considering full wages isn't enough to live off of. It blows my mind that an employer can be negligent and cause me so much pain and I'm told I'll get a little over half my wages.
I'm lucky to be in a position where I can survive for a bit with what I have, but I think of all the single moms and others in tough positions who would be totally screwed over and it enrages me honestly.

I'm currently looking into my options although the first lawyer I spoke with told me that in my state you cannot sue your employer for a workplace injury, even if they are found negligent.

And for the record, I would much rather be healthy and not have to deal with this pain and inconvenience than anything.
