Can Finally Post About This – Shitty Nurse Manager Reported Me

I work in end of life care (hospice) as a nurse and have for seven years. In the middle of the night, I went to see a new patient who was in distress. I called the on call manager to let her know that we needed to have the patient admitted to our inpatient unit and that the doctor agreed with me. She refused because it wouldn’t financially benefit the company. So, I charted exactly what happened: On call doctor contacted, agreed to inpatient admission. Contacted manager on call who refused for patient to be admitted. I found an alternative for the patient, submitted the paperwork, went home.
She called me the next day (my day off) FURIOUS that I had charted about her and demanded that I remove it from my charting. I refused because I didn’t want it to look like I didn’t follow protocol. She then told me if I didn’t remove it by midnight that I would be terminated. Great, I thought, I didn’t want to work for a company who put money over morals anyways. I found a new job by the end of the day.
My next work day came, and she called me accusing me of abandoning my patients because I didn’t show up to work. I told her that she had terminated me two days ago so why would I show up? She said I should have known she was bluffing then hung up??
She then reported me to the board of nursing- quite a scary experience.
Good news, however, is that today I received my letter that they found that I have done nothing wrong and I am free to go about my job. Thank goodness!
