Can I tell my new job that I don’t want to attend a mandatory party an hour and a half away?

For context I have debilitating anxiety and have just recently got it under control enough to find a full time job. The job is very close to my house and i applied for this reason because of my fear of travel and driving on the highway. During no point in the onboarding and interview process was travel to meetings or otherwise mentioned. This position was solely an in office job. Now I find out today a party in another state is taking place at the end of the month that is VERY mandatory. I didn't make a comment on this when I found out because I really don't know what to say. I cannot drive an hour and a half away I honestly haven't even been on the highway in 4 years. Is this okay for them to spring on me? Can I say no or will I be fired?
