Last week, a known and liked customer came into our store and dropped a box of donuts off at the front desk for the workers. Great guy!
Im up front to handle some paperwork when I get offered a donut, which of course I said yes to, having established that I almost never turn down free food.
While we're getting through my paperwork, the store's head mamager arrives. The front of house manager offers them a donut, mentioning who they were from. The head manager looks thoughtful, says 'hmm', then grabs the box and walks off.
At first we laughed, like 'oh hes gonna pretend to take it.' Then he left the front end area, amd we started to get worried. The front house manager radios up 'I better see those in the break room!'
The head manager responds , on the open radio, that the guest was actually a vendor – despite the front end manager never seeing him entered as a vendor – and thus the donuts were technically a bribe, and he was disposing of them. He switched to the management radio channel, then tried calling, once he realized that he just said on air that he was throwing away a box of donuts because it might sway our opinions on thia guy's nonexistant products in a department that doesnt handle products.
I just wanted a donut, man :c
